The Baltimore Orioles host the Houston Astros in game two of their three game weekend set from Camden Yards on Saturday.
The Houston Astros will be looking to find some measure of consistency after alternating wins and losses in each of their last seven games, including an 8-7 win in game one on Friday. Yuli Gurriel led the team with a pair of RBIs while going 4 for 5 with a double and a homer. Colin Moran went 2 for 4 with a triple, a home run and two RBIs as well while Brian McCann belted out a solo shot of his own in the win. Jose Altuve, Josh Reddick and Carlos Beltran all added RBIs as George Springer went 3 for 5 and Marwin Gonzalez went 2 for 5 with a double. Alex Bregman also contributed a base hit in the winning effort for Houston. Mike Fiers got the win to improve to 7-4 this season after giving up just one run on six hits while striking out nine over seven innings of work. Ken Giles struck out his lone batter for his 21st save of the season to close out the 9th. Collin McHugh will get the nod in game two, and will be making his 2017 regular season debut in this one. McHugh was 13-10 with a 4.34 ERA and 177 strikeouts over 33 starts last season. In his career, McHugh is 1-0 with a 6.18 ERA and 29 strikeouts against Baltimore.

The Baltimore Orioles will try to bounce back after having their four game winning streak snapped with a loss on Friday. Jonathan Schoop led the team, going 2 for 5 with a three run homer and four RBIs. Adam Jones added a two run double and Mark Trumbo put up an RBI single in the win. Manny Machado and Caleb Joseph each notched a pair of base hits, while Hyun Soo Kim added a pinch-hit double and Trey Mancini, Ruben Tejada and Joey Rickard each added base hits of their own in the losing effort. Ubaldo Jimenez took the loss, falling to 4-6 this season after giving up six runs on 10 hits while striking out five over 5.1 innings of work. Chris Tillman will start game two and is 1-5 with a 7.20 ERA and 39 strikeouts this season. In his career, Tillman is 2-3 with a 3.89 ERA and 20 strikeouts against Houston.
Houston is 8-1 in McHugh’s last 9 starts and 39-14 in their last 53 road games while the over is 6-0-1 in their last 7 road games. Baltimore is 17-8 in Tillman’s last 25 home starts and 4-1 in their last 5 games overall while the over is 7-2 in their last 9 games overall. Baltimore is 1-4 in Tillman’s last 5 starts against Houston.
Normally I’m not a fan backing pitchers making their season debut this late in the season, but McHugh is actually a decent arm in the Astros’ rotation, and has been solid at home. Also, McHugh has never had this potent of an offense behind him in years past. Tillman has shown some signs of life, giving up just three earned over his last two starts combined, but I’m not ready to trust him against a Houston bunch that the Orioles have had a hard time beating with Tillman on the mound. Give me Houston here.
