For Saturday’s game, the Red Sox will be bringing out LHP David Price. In his 61.0 innings and 5-2 record this year, Price has a 3.39 ERA with 58 Ks and 19 BBs.
Boston has some big hitters this year. Coming into this set, Mookie Betts had 108 hits, 68 runs, 17 homers and 59 RBI while Xander Bogaerts had 101 hits, 52 runs and 42 RBI. Betts and Bogaerts combined for three hits, two runs and two RBI on Friday.
Over on the Angels’ side, they’re going with RHP JC Ramirez on Saturday. In his 109.0 innings and 8-8 record this year, Ramirez has a 4.54 ERA with 86 Ks and 31 BBs.
The Angels have some decent bats as well. Coming into this series, Andrelton Simmons led the way on 102 hits, 43 runs and 40 RBI while Kole Calhoun brought 85 hits, 41 runs, 12 homers and 41 RBI. Simmons had one hit on Friday; Calhoun came up empty.
The Red Sox are 5-1 in the last six during game two of a series, and 1-4 in their last five Saturday games. Boston is also 5-2 in Price’s last seven starts and 1-4 in Price’s last five starts with five days’ rest.
Meanwhile, the Angels are 4-9 in their last 13 during game two of a series, and 2-5 in their last seven home games versus a left-handed starter. LA is also 1-5 in their last six games versus a left-handed starter and 1-4 in Ramirez’s last five home starts.
Price has been quite solid recently, and has given up zero earned in two of his last three starts. He’s also 3-0 in his last four games. As for Ramirez, He’s coughed up four or more earned runs in three of his last four starts. All things considered, I like the Sox and Price to pick up a win here. Give me Boston.
