Target Field and the Minnesota Twins host the Detroit Tigers in an MLB baseball tilt on Saturday.
The Detroit Tigers can not afford a losing streak of any length or their season will be over from a competitive stand point. The Tigers took a positive step on Friday with a 6-3 win at Minnesota on Friday that prevented a three game skid. Detroit starter Anibal Sanchez picked up the win with all three runs plated on six hits and a trio of BB over 5.2 frames while four relievers put up zeros. The Tigers hammered out eleven hits and walked three times with Victor Martinez clubbing a pair of homers and driving in three while Jose Iglesias went 2-3 with a walk and scored twice. The Detroit Tigers will start Jordan Zimmermann to the mound to oppose the Minnesota Twins in the second game of their series. Zimmermann defeated the Kansas City Royals 10-2 last time out with a run allowed on seven hits in 6.2 frames.

The Minnesota Twins are right in the middle of the American League Central race but they have been a .500 team the past few weeks. The Twins lost a game in the standings with Friday’s loss to the visiting Tigers where neither the hitting or pitching came through. Minnesota starter Ervin Santana absorbed the loss with five runs given up on seven hits and a pair of bases on balls over 3.1 innings pitched. The Twins attack consisted of seven hits and four walks with Ehire Adrianza driving in two while Miguel Sano knocked in a run and scored. Kyle Gibson toes the rubber for the Minnesota Twins for the game two meeting with the Detroit Tigers. Gibson looks to get back in the win column after losses to Baltimore and Houston with a combined eleven runs allowed on 15 hits and six BB in ten frames.
The over is 6-2-1 in Detroit last 9 road games and Detroit are 4-10 in their last 14 road games while Detroit are 2-9 in Zimmermann’s last 11 road starts. The under is 13-5-1 in Minnesota last 19 Saturday games and the under is 8-1 in Gibson’s last 9 Saturday starts while the over is 10-3-1 in Gibson’s last 14 home starts. Minnesota are 2-6 in Gibson’s last 8 starts versus Detroit and Detroit are 22-8 in the last 30 meetings.
The numbers say both hurlers are putting runners on base and the over might be worth a look…
