The New York Yankees and Seattle Mariners meet Saturday in MLB action at Safeco Field.
The New York Yankees look for another win after winning five of their last eight games. The Yankees have scored 10 runs in their last three games and four or more runs in five of their last nine games. The New York Yankees have won five straight games when scoring more than two runs. Aaron Judge leads the Yankees with 104 hits and 72 RBI while Starlin Castro and Brett Gardner have combined for 185 hits and 88 RBI. The Seattle Mariners could use a win here after splitting their last six games. The Mariners have allowed nine runs in this series and four or more runs in five of their last six games. The Seattle Mariners have lost 12 of their last 14 games when allowing more than three runs. Offensively, Jean Segura leads the Mariners with 98 hits and 30 RBI while Robinson Cano and Nelson Cruz have combined for 187 hits and 139 RBI. Ariel Miranda gets the ball, and he is 7-4 with a 4.35 ERA and 84 strikeouts this season. This will be Miranda’s first career game against the Yankees.
The Yankees are 9-4 in their last 13 Saturday games, 1-4 in their last 5 during game 3 of a series and 2-5 in Tanakas last 7 starts with 5 days of rest. The Mariners are 5-16 in their last 21 Saturday games, 2-10 in their last 12 home games and 0-4 in Mirandas last 4 Saturday starts. The Yankees are 20-7 in the last 27 meetings in Seattle and the under is 33-16-4 in the last 53 meetings.
I'd love to take the Mariners and the plus money at home as a fade from Tanaka, but he's been great against Seattle in his career and Miranda has allowed 11 hits and 11 earned runs in his last 10.2 innings. Tanaka has an ERA of nearly six on the road and the Mariners are due for an offensive breakout. I like the over in this game, as this should clear double-digit runs with these two starting pitchers on the hill.
