The Washington Nationals take on the Arizona Diamondbacks in the finale of their three game set from Chase Field on Sunday.
The Washington Nationals will look to take the series after winning game two by a final score of 4-3 on Saturday. Bryce Harper led the way, going 2 for 5 with a home run, a double and two RBIs. Ryan Zimmerman and Anthony Rendon each put a run on the boar das well, with Zimmerman going 2 for 4 with a double. Brian Goodwin went 3 for 5 with a double and Matt Wieters added a two-bagger of his own while Chris Heisey went 1 for 4 with a triple. Daniel Murphy and Wilmer Difo also added base hits of their own in the win. Tanner Roark gave up just two runs on three hits while striking out eleven over seven innings of work, getting the win to improve to 8-6 this season while Sean Doolittle recorded his 2nd save as a member of the Nationals. Stephen Strasburg will start game three and is 10-3 with a 3.31 ERA and 139 strikeouts this season. In his career, Strasburg is 4-2 with a 3.28 ERA and 40 strikeouts against Arizona.

The Arizona Diamondbacks will also be looking to take the series after dropping game two to even the set up at one game apiece. Chris Iannetta went 1 for 4 with a double and an RBI while Paul Goldschmidt and Jake Lamb added runs of their own in the loss. A.J. Pollock went 2 for 4 with a triple and Brandon Drury added a pinch-hit double as the D-Backs mustered up just four hits as a team in the loss. Anthony Banda took the loss in his major league debut, giving up all four runs on seven hits while striking out five over 5.2 innings of work. Robbie Ray will start game three for Arizona and is 9-4 with a 2.97 ERA and 145 strikeouts this season. In his career, Ray is 0-3 with a 6.48 ERA and 22 strikeouts against Washington.
Washington is 44-12 in Strasburg’s last 56 starts and 13-4 in their last 17 against the NL West while the over is 5-2 in Strasburg’s last 7 starts. Arizona is 8-2 in Ray’s last 10 starts and 38-16 in their last 54 home games while the over is 18-7-1 in Ray’s last 26 home starts. Washington is 16-7 in the last 23 meetings between these two teams.
Even though the Nats have had Ray’s number in the past, we are getting a strong home team in Arizona, who are 30-12 at Chase field this season, sending Ray to the mound with a 7-1 record and sub-two ERA in his last 10 starts. That’s good enough for me to take a stab at the D-Backs and the plus money.
