The Miami Marlins and Cincinnati Reds meet Sunday in MLB action at Great American Ball Park.
The Miami Marlins could use another victory after splitting their last six games. The Marlins have scored eight runs in this series and three or less runs in five of their last seven games. The Miami Marlins have now won eight of their last 10 games when scoring more than three runs. Marcell Ozuna leads the Marlins with 115 hits and 70 RBI while Dee Gordon and Christian Yelich have combined for 210 hits and 66 RBI. Tom Koehler gets the ball, and he is 1-4 with a 7.92 ERA and 42 strikeouts this season. Koehler is 0-1 with a 1.88 ERA and eight strikeouts in his career against the Reds.

The Cincinnati Reds could also use a win after losing eight of their last nine games. The Reds allowed 20 runs in their last three games and five or more runs in seven of their last nine games. The Cincinnati Reds have lost 12 of their last 14 games when allowing at least three runs. Offensively, Joey Votto leads the Reds with 103 hits and 68 RBI while Adam Duvall and Billy Hamilton have combined for 193 hits and 89 RBI. Sal Romano gets the ball, and he is 1-2 with a 7.50 ERA and 11 strikeouts this season. This will be Romano’s first career game against the Marlins.
The Marlins are 10-4 in their last 14 Sunday games, 2-8 in Koehlers last 10 road starts and 1-5 in Koehlers last 6 starts. The Reds are 21-46 in their last 67 Sunday games, 1-5 in their last 6 during game 3 of a series and 0-5 in their last 5 vs. National League East. The Marlins are 11-25 in the last 36 meetings in Cincinnati.
I've mentioned in the past that Koehler is one of the worst pitchers in baseball, and he's done nothing 11 starts this season to change my mind, as he gets blasted time and time again. However, Romano hasn't been great in his three career starts and is coming off a game in which he gave up six runs and six hits in four innings against Arizona. The fish are playing better ball than the Reds, are the better team overall and if it's going to be a shootout, I like Miami's offense. I'll side with the Marlins for the slightly cheaper price, but I don't love this game.
