The Atlanta Braves and the Los Angeles Dodgers meet on Sunday to conclude their four game weekend set from Dodger Stadium.
The Atlanta Braves will look to take the series from the Dodgers despite dropping game three by a final score of 6-2 on Saturday. Freddie Freeman and Matt Kemp accounted for the pair of Braves runs in the loss, while Johan Camargo went 2 for 4 with a pair of doubles. Tyler Flowers, Nick Markakis and Sean Rodriguez each added base hits in the losing effort for the Braves. Julio Teheran took the loss after giving up four runs on nine hits while striking out six over 6.1 innings of work to fall to 7-8 this season. Sean Newcomb will start game four and is 2-5 with a 4.86 ERA and 35 strikeouts this season. This will be Newcomb’s first career start against the Dodgers.

The Los Angeles Dodgers are in the unexpected position of going for a series split with the Braves after their win in game three on Saturday. Chris Taylor led the way with a home run and a triple in addition to three RBIs. Chase Utley and Corey Seager added solo homers while Yasiel Puig added a run of his own in the win. Cody Bellinger, Yasmani Grandal, Logan Forsythe, Joc Pederson, Enrique Hernandez and Austin Barnes all added base hits of their own in the winning effort for the Dodgers. Rich Hill got the win, improving to 6-4 this season after giving up both runs on six hits while walking a pair and striking out eight over 6.1 innings of work. Clayton Kershaw will start the series finale and is 15-2 with a 2.07 ERA and 166 strikeouts this season. In his career, Kershaw is 3-0 with a 1.52 ERA and 68 strikeouts against Atlanta.
Atlanta is 2-5 in Newcomb’s last 7 starts and 19-7 in their last 26 against the NL West while the over is 5-1 in their last 6 road games. Los Angeles is 46-9 in Kershaw’s last 55 starts and 52-17 in their last 69 home games while the under is 4-1 in Kershaw’s last 5 starts. Los Angeles is 6-0 in Kershaw’s last 6 starts against Atlanta.
Kershaw has been money in his career against Atlanta and I don’t expect that to change here. However, I’m sure as hell not paying -400 and I can’t even get decent value on the run line at -1.5 or even -2.5. Instead, I’ll side with the over. The Dodgers offense is good enough to push a few runs across and even if the Braves only get one or two runs, Newcomb’s struggles as of late, to the tune of 16 earned runs in his last three starts covering 12.2 innings, could and should be enough to get this over the total.
