The San Francisco Giants host the San Diego Padres in a NL West bout in Sunday MLB baseball.
The San Diego Padres aren’t going to be a factor in the NL West race but they can stay out of the division basement which at this point in 2017 is their only goal. The Padres saw their chance at a three game winning streak go up in smoke in a 5-4, 12 inning loss at San Francisco on Saturday where the defense cost the team. SD starter Luis Perdomo was charged with four runs (one earned) on eight hits over six frames with Kevin Quackenbush giving up a 12th inning run to get the loss. San Diego posted eight hits and a BB with Wil Myers going solo while Perdomo drove in two followed by Luis Torrens with an RBI and run. The San Diego Padres have tabbed Dinelson Lamet as Sunday’s starter at the rival San Francisco Giants. Lamet has struggled in consecutive outings with a combined 12 runs given up on ten hits including three homers and eight bases on balls in eight frames.

The only goal the San Francisco Giants have is to throw a Monkey Wrench in to the postseason hopes of the rest of the NL West. The Giants had dropped seven of ten before Saturday night’s much needed win where the bullpen saved the day. SF starter Matt Moore gave up all four runs on seven hits through six innings before four relievers tossed shutout baseball. San Francisco totaled 12 hits and four walks with Eduardo Nunez going 3-5 with two runs knocked in while Orlando Calixte recorded an RBI and scored. The San Francisco Giants are hoping Ty Blach continues to throw the ball well when he opposes the San Diego Padres for the second time this season. Blach has reeled off three straight quality starts where he has gone 2-0 with a 1.29 WHIP and 2.33 ERA.
The over is 7-0-1 in San Diego last 8 overall and the over is 7-0-1 in San Diego last 8 on grass while San Diego are 15-42 in their last 57 Sunday games. The over is 7-1-2 in San Francisco last 10 overall and the over is 7-1-2 in San Francisco last 10 on grass while the over is 7-1-2 in San Francisco last 10 Sunday games. San Diego are 16-5 in the last 21 meetings.
I don’t think there is a ton of difference here but a slight nod to Blach but not by a lot…
