The Cincinnati Reds pay a visit to the Cleveland Indians in Monday MLB baseball interleague play.
The Cincinnati Reds have been in a downward spiral for quite awhile so whenever the team wins it’s a big deal. The Reds received strong performances at the plate and on the mound Sunday afternoon in a 6-3 victory versus the visiting Miami Marlins. Cincinnati starter Sal Romano upped his record to 2-2 with a run scoring on a trio of bases on balls over six frames before Michael Lorenzen gave up two more (one earned. The Reds did their damage on nine hits and a trio of free passes with Tucker Barnhart and Eugenio Suarez going solo while Scooter Gennett leaving the yard and driving in two. Right hander Tim Adleman toes the rubber for the Cincinnati Reds for the second time in his career on Monday. Adleman comes off of a 4-3 win versus the Arizona Diamondbacks with all three runs scoring on seven hits with seven K’s in six frames.

The Cleveland Indians had seen their lead slip in the American League Central and need to rebound. The Indians have done just that with three consecutive victories after an 8-1 decision versus the Toronto Blue Jays to complete the series sweep. Tribe starter Corey Kluber improved to 8-3 with the lone run plated on five hits and a pair of BB while striking out 14 through 7.2 innings. Cleveland pounded out 12 hits and walked four times with Michael Brantley going deep, driving in three and scoring twice while Brandon Guyer drove in three with a bases loaded double. The Cleveland Indians hand Monday’s start to Josh Tomlin who saw the Cincinnati Reds once in 2017. Tomlin comes off of back to back victories after a 5-3 win at the San Francisco Giants with all three runs given up on six hits over 7.1 innings pitched.

Tomlin isn’t worth the price to me but I like the Indians offense more then anything…
