The Minnesota Twins and the Los Angeles Dodgers face off in game one of a three game set at Dodger Stadium on Monday.
The Minnesota Twins will look to find some measure of consistency after alternating wins and losses in each of their last nine games, including a 9-6 loss to the Tigers in their series finale on Sunday. Eduardo Escobar and Joe Mayer each logged a pair of RBIs with Escobar going 1 for 5 with a home run and Mayer added his runs in a pinch-hit role. Brian Dozier went 2 for 4 with a double and a solo home run while Zack Granite added an RBI of his own in the loss. Eddie Rosario went 2 for 4 with a double while Max Kepler and Robbie Grossman each added base hits of their own in the losing effort. Adalberto Mejia gave up a pair of runs, one earned, on five hits while walking a pair and striking out five over 4.2 innings of work, not factoring in the decision. Trevor Hildenberger took the loss to fall to 1-1 this season. Bartolo Colon will start game one and is 2-9 with an 8.19 ERA and 45 strikeouts this season. In his career, Colon is 2-6 with a 5.27 ERA and 34 strikeouts against the Dodgers.

The Los Angeles Dodgers will be looking to build on a 5-4 extra innings win on Sunday, salvaging a series split with Atlanta in the process. Austin Barnes led the team with three RBIs as part of a 2 for 4 day at the plate with a home run. Cody Bellinger belted a solo homer, his team-leading 27th of the season. Logan Forsythe added an RBI as well while going 2 for 4 with a double. Chris Taylor went 2 for 5 at the dish while Justin Turner added a base hit of his own in the win. Clayton Kershaw lasted just two innings before leaving the game due to injury. Kenley Jansen gave up the game tying three runs in the top of the 9th for his 1st blown save of the year, and Brandon Morrow closed out the 10th for the win to improve to 3-0 this season. Hyun Jin Ryu will start game one and is 3-6 with a 4.21 ERA and 69 strikeouts this season. This will be Ryu's first career start against Minnesota, however Ryu owns a career 3-3 interleague record with a 4.56 ERA and 49 strikeouts covering 9 career starts.
Minnesota is 2-6 in their last 8 road games and 4-23 in their last 27 interleague games against a team with a winning record while the under is 6-1 in their last 7 games overall. Los Angeles is 4-1 in Ryu's last 5 home starts and 21-5 in their last 26 games against a team with a winning record while the under is 4-0-1 in their last 5 interleague home games. The over is 6-2-1 in the last 9 meetings between these two teams.
There's word that this game could determine whether Colon retires or not, and if that's the case, there probably couldn't be a worse team to base that decision off of. Even after losing their ace, the Dodgers still managed to pull off a big win against the Braves on Sunday. The Dodgers are still the hottest team in the majors right now, and with how Colon has struggled this season, Los Angeles should be able to cruise to another win here.
