The Colorado Rockies and the St. Louis Cardinals square off in game one of a three game set on Monday.
The Colorado Rockies will be looking to stay hot after winning six of their last seven games, including a 13-3 dismantling of the Pirates in the series finale on Sunday. Mark Reynolds and Nolan Arenado each chipped in three RBIs apiece, with Reynolds going 3 for 5 with a pair of home runs. Charlie Blackmon, Trevor Story and Pat Valaika each went yard as well with two RBIs a piece while Ian Desmond added a run on the board as well in the win. Carlos Gonzalez went 2 for 5 with a double while DJ LeMahieu and Ryan Hanigan added base hits of their own in the win. Kyle Freeland got the win to improve to 10-7 this season after giving up two runs on six hits while walking a pair and striking out three over six innings of work. Antonio Senzatela will start game one and is 10-3 with a 4.67 ERA and 70 strikeouts this season. In his career, Senzatela is 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA and 3 strikeouts against St. Louis.

The St. Louis Cardinals will look to bounce back after dropping back-to-back games and four of their last five after a 5-3 loss on Sunday Night Baseball to the Cubs on Sunday. St. Louis did all of their damage on the board via the longball, as Randal Grichuk opened the scoring with a two run homer and Paul DeJong corked a solo home run in the 4th inning. Jedd Gyorko went 2 for 4 with a double while Yadier Molina added a base hit of his own in the loss. Michael Wacha gave up all five runs on six hits while striking out six over six innings of work, taking the loss to fall to 7-4 this season. Mike Leake will start game one and is 6-8 with a 3.39 ERA and 77 strikeouts this season. In his career, Leake is 1-2 with a 7.52 ERA and 17 strikeouts against St. Louis.
Colorado is 6-1 in their last 7 games overall and 11-5 in Senzatela’s last 16 starts while the over is 8-1 in their last 9 games overall. St. Louis is 3-11 in LEake’s last 14 home starts and 4-9 in their last 13 home games against a right-handed starter while the under is 8-2-2 in their last 12 games overall. Coloardo is 7-19 in the last 26 meetings between these two teams in St. Louis.
The Rockies are back to looking like the Rockies that we’ve seen in the beginning of the season, as they’re putting up crooked numbers left and right. Sure the pitching staff isn’t the best in the league by any stretch, but Senzatela is a very capable arm, even if he’s a rookie, and has already silenced the Cardinals’ bats once this season, throwing eight innings of shutout baseball in a meeting earlier this season. Leake has struggled as of late for St. Louis, and the Cards had to travel from Wrigley for Sunday Night Baseball, so the value is all on Colorado with the plus money here.
