For the Tuesday game, Mike Foltynewicz will be coming out for the Braves in the start. In his 104.2 innings and 8-5 record this year, Foltynewicz has a 3.87 ERA with 92 Ks and 36 BBs.
Atlanta has some big hitters this year. Coming into this set, Ender Inciarte had 124 hits, 68 runs and 39 RBI while Nick Markakis had 101 hits, 50 runs and 47 RBI. In Monday’s game, Markakis came up empty; Inciarte sat out.
Over on the Diamondbacks’ side, they’re going with RHP Taijuan Walker on Tuesday. In his 87.1 innings and 6-4 record this year, Walker has a 3.61 ERA with 76 Ks and 32 BBs.
Arizona has some solid bats as well. Paul Goldschmidt entered this game with 107 hits, 76 runs, 21 homers and 73 RBI, while David Peralta had 101 hits, 54 runs, 10 homers and 33 RBI. Goldschmidt posted a hit, a run and an RBI on Monday; Peralta had two hits, a run and an RBI.
The Braves are 23-50 in their last 73 Tuesday games, and 4-0 in Foltynewicz’s last four road starts. Atlanta is also 8-0 in Foltynewicz’s last eight starts and 0-4 in Foltynewicz’s last four Tuesday starts.
Meanwhile, the Diamondbacks are 11-3 in their last 14 Tuesday games and 0-5 in their last five during game two of a series. Arizona is also 5-2 in Walker’s last seven starts and 5-2 in Walker’s last seven home starts.
Over his last half-dozen starts, Foltynewicz has been pretty solid overall. He has given up six earned on 14 hits in 11.2 innings over his last two starts, though. As for Walker, he coughed up five earned on five hits in 5.0 innings against the Reds, but followed that up with two earned on five hits in 6.0 innings during his last start. This should be a pretty fun game to watch, but I’ll take Walker and the D-Backs here.
