Tropicana Field and the Tampa Bay Rays host the Baltimore Orioles in Tuesday night MLB baseball.
The Baltimore Orioles still have a losing record but the team is still in the Wild Card conversation. The Orioles took a positive step Monday with a 5-0 win at Tropicana Field for consecutive victories. O’s starter Kevin Gausman was at his best with five hits and three BB issued over six scoreless frames while recording eight strikeouts. Baltimore totaled nine hits and a walk with Adam Jones leaving the yard and scoring twice while Manny Machado drove in two followed by Joey Rickard with a run scored and an RBI. The Baltimore Orioles have tabbed left hander Wade Miley as Tuesday night’s starter at the Tampa Bay Rays. Miley struggled in a 9-7 victory against the Texas Rangers last time out with five runs given up on seven hits and four BB in five frames.

A short week ago, the Tampa Bay Rays were second in the American League East but have since hit the skids. The Rays slide reached five consecutive contests following Monday night’s defeat where the offense was held in check where a few opportunities went by the wayside. TB starter Blake Snell absorbed the loss with three runs given up on six hits and a walk through seven innings pitched while two relievers worked an inning each and allowed a run apiece. Tampa Bay was limited to six hits but did walk five times with three players posting a single and a walk. The Tampa Bay Rays will be sending rookie Jacob Faria to the hill for Tuesday’s match up with the Baltimore Orioles who he has faced twice. Faria comes off of a 7-2 defeat at the Oakland Athletics where he gave up all four runs on six hits and four BB in five frames.
Baltimore are 8-23 in their last 31 road games and the under is 18-7-2 in Baltimore last 27 Tuesday games and the under is 7-3 in Baltimore last 10 road games. The over is 14-4 in Tampa Bay last 18 home games and the over is 16-5 in TB last 21 on astroturf while the under is 6-2-1 in Tampa Bay last 9 overall. Baltimore are 7-3 in the last 10 meetings in Tampa Bay.
Tampa Bay seems to have an edge on the mound with Faria although I’m not sure this team is worth betting right now…
