The Line: Washington Nationals -135 / Milwaukee Brewers +122 --- Over/Under: 9.5 See the Latest Odds

The Milwaukee Brewers and the Washington Nationals to start a three game set on Monday from Nationals Park.

The Milwaukee Brewers will look to bounce back after dropping seven of their last eight games, including a 6-3 loss to the Phillies in their series finale on Sunday. Jonathan Villar went 1 for 4 ith a pair of RBIs while Ryan Braun went 1 for 3 with a double and an RBI of his own to round out the scoring for the Brewers in the loss. Manny Pina, Brett Phillips and Eric Sogard added base hits of their own in the losing effort for Milwaukee. Junior Guerra took the loss, falling to 1-4 this season after giving up five runs on five hits while walking and striking out three apiece over just four innings of work. Zach Davies will start game one and is 11-4 with a 4.76 ERA and 73 strikeouts this season. In his career, Davies is 1-0 with a 3.86 ERA and 12 strikeouts against Washington.

Washington Nationals vs. Milwaukee Brewers - 7/25/17 MLB Pick, Odds, and Prediction

The Washington Nationals will be looking to build on a pair of back-to-back wins to close out their series against the Nationals, taking game three by a final score of 6-2 on Sunday. Brian Goodwin and Wilmer Difo each hit a solo home run, while Ryan Zimmerman, Anthony Rendon, Adrian Sanchez and Jose Lobaton added RBIs of their own in the win for the Nats. Adam Lind and Bryce Harper also contributed base hits to the winning effort for Washington. Stephen Strasburg left the game due to injury after throwing two innings, giving up one hit while walking three and striking out a pair. Joe Blanton got the win, his first of the season, improving to 1-2 this season. Edwin Jackson will start game one and is 1-0 with a 4.50 ERA and 5 strikeouts this season. In his career, Jackson is 6-7 with a 3.84 ERA and 72 strikeouts against Milwaukee.

Milwaukee is 4-1 in Davies’ last 5 starts and 1-7 in their last 8 games overall while the under is 8-1 in their last 9 games overall. Washington is 8-2 in their last 10 games overall and 5-0 in their last 5 against the NL Central while the over is 4-1 in their last 5 home games. The over is 10-4-1 in the last 15 meetings between these two teams.

I don’t know how anyone can expect the Brewers to do well against the Nationals who are the best in the NL East after struggling against the worst team in the same division in the Phillies. However, Davies is probably Milwaukee’s best shot at a win in this series as in his last five starts, he has four wins and a no decision that saw him give up just an unearned run. Jackson hasn’t had enough of a sample size yet to feel comfortable backing him even with the better offense, so I’ll take a shot with Milwaukee and the plus money here.
