MLB baseball comes to the Sunshine State when the Cincinnati Reds visit the Miami Marlins on Thursday.
The Cincinnati Reds are the odd man out in the National League Central as the season has spiraled out of control. The Reds season didn’t get ant better Wednesday in a 9-5 loss at the New York Yankees where the pitching couldn’t control the scoreboard. Cincinnati starter Homer Bailey was charged with seven runs (five earned) on ten hits over six frames while Tony Cingrani served up a two run bomb. The Reds posted four hits and three bases on balls with Adam Duvall clubbing a three run bomb while Eugenio Suarez drove in a run and scored. The Cincinnati Reds have scheduled Robert Stephenson for Thursday’ start at the Miami Marlins for his second start of 2017. Overall, Stephenson has made 14 appearances and has come out of the bullpen 13 times and is 3-1 with an 8.10 ERA.

The Miami Marlins have an opportunity to reach .500 but there aren’t many goals within reach otherwise. The Marlins moved a step closer to their goal with a 22-10 rout of the Texas Rangers on Wednesday night. Fish starter Jose Urena wasn’t sharp and didn’t need to be as he was charged with five runs on four hits and four bases on balls through five innings while Nick Wittgren allowed three more. Miami amassed 22 hits and six walks with Jt Realmuto, Giancarlo Stanton, Christian Yelich and Dee Gordon all going deep and combining for seven RBI’s and 12 runs while Marcell Ozuna and Derek Dietrich drove in five runs apiece and scored six times. The Miami Marlins give Thursday’s starting assignment versus the Cincinnati Reds to rookie Chris O’Grady who makes his 4th consecutive start. In his three starts, O’Grady has allowed a combined nine runs on 14 hits and ten BB over 15 frames.
The under is 9-1-1 in Cincinnati last 11 road games and Cincinnati are 2-10 in their last 12 overall while Cincinnati are 9-26 in their last 35 road games. Miami are 1-8 in their last 9 Thursday games and Miami are 1-7 in their last 8 home games while the under is 7-3-2 in Miami last 12 home games.
Nothing sticks out in this one so I’ll hope Miami continues to swing the bats…
