The Baltimore Orioles take on the Texas Rangers in game one of their three game weekend set on Friday.
The Baltimore Orioles will look to bounce back after dropping the last two games of their division series against the Rays, including a 5-1 loss in the series finale on Wednesday. Jonathan Schoop’s solo home run accounted for the lone RBI for the O’s in the loss, while Seth Smith went 2 for 3 with a pair of doubles. Manny Machado, Chris Davis and Caleb Joseph each chipped in a base hit of their own as Baltimore put up just six hits as a team in the loss. Ubaldo Jimenez took the loss, dropping to 4-7 this year after giving up a pair of runs on three hits while walking a pair and striking out nine. Chris Tillman will start game one and is 1-5 with a 7.01 ERA and 44 strikeouts this season.

The Texas Rangers will look to bounce back after dropping their series with the Marlins after falling to the Fish on Wednesday. It’s not often that you score 10 runs in a game and lose, however that’s exactly what happened to the Rangers as Miami won the finale by a final score of 22-10. In the loss, Nomar Mazara led the team with three RBIs, going 1 for 3 at the plate with a double. Adrian Beltre went 3 for 3 with a pair of doubles and two RBIs in the loss, while Joey Gallo and Carlos Gomez also added a pair of runs on the board. Shin-Soo Choo added an RBI as well while Elvis Andrus and Rougned Odor added a double each respectively. Mike Napoli and Jonathan Lucroy added base hits of their own in the losing effort. Yu Darvish didn’t do his trade value any favours, giving up ten runs on nine hits while walking a pair and striking out five over just 3.2 innings of work, falling to 6-9 this season. Andrew Cashner will start the series finale and is 5-8 with a 3.64 ERA and 47 strikeouts this season. In his career, Cashner is 0-1 with a 2.57 ERA and 6 strikeouts against Baltimore.
Baltimore is 9-25 in their last 34 road games and 3-7 in Tillman’s last 10 starts while the over is 6-0 in their last 6 games against the AL West. Texas is 1-8 in their last 9 games against a team with a losing record and 10-21 in their last 31 games against the AL East while the over is 5-1 in their last 6 games against a team with a losing record. Baltimore is 4-0 in the last 4 meetings between these two teams.
Good luck picking this dumpster fire of a matchup. As you’ve got Tillman going into this one with an ERA over seven, and Cashner who could implode at any moment. Baltimore has had the bulk of the success in this matchup, but Texas has scored ten runs in back-to-back games, so I feel the safest bet here is to take the over.
