The Cincinnati Reds and the Miami Marlins face off in game three of their four game set from Marlins Park on Saturday.
The Cincinnati Reds will look to even up the series with a win after dropping 13 of the last 15 games following a 7-4 loss in game two on Friday. Adam Duvall and Scott Schebler each went yard, with Duvall hitting a two run homer and Schebler adding a consolation solo shot in the top of the 9th. Joey Votto opened the scoring with an RBI single, while Scooter Gennett went 2 for 4 at the dish in addition to Jose Peraza and Tucker Barnhart adding base hits of their own in the loss. Sal Romano gave up a pair of unearned runs on two hits while walking six and striking out five, not factoring in the decision. Wandy Peralta gave up the eventual game-winning RBI double to Tyler Moore, taking the loss to fall to 3-2 this season. Tim Adleman will start game three and is 5-8 with a 5.11 ERA and 92 strikeouts this season. This will be Adleman’s first career start against Miami.

The Miami Marlins will look to continue their climb to .500 and win the series with a game to spare after taking game two on Friday, giving the Fish their sixth win in their last eight games. Mike Aviles led the team with a pair of RBIs thanks to a pinch-hit, two run homer. J.T. Realmuto hit a solo shot along with a double as part of his 3 for 4 day at the dish while Tyler Moore added an RBI of his own, a game-winning RBI double. Dee Gordon and Giancarlo Stanton also added RBIs, while Derek Dietrich went 2 for 4 with a pair of double and Ichiro Suzuki hit a pinch-hit double of his own in the win. Vance Worley gave up three runs on four hits while walking a pair and striking out three over four innings of work, not factoring in the decision. Dustin McGowan became the pitcher of record, getting the win to improve to 6-1 this season. Adam Conley will start game three for Miami and is 3-3 with a 5.62 ERA and 31 strikeouts this season. In his career, Conley is 2-0 with a 3.38 ERA and 9 strikeouts against Cincinnati.
Cincinnati is 22-53 in their last 75 games against a left-handed starter and 0-5 in Adleman’s last 5 road starts while the under is 7-2 in ADleman’s last 9 starts against a team with a losing record. Miami is 6-2 in their last 8 games against the NL Central and 14-6 in their last 20 home games against a right-handed starter while the over is 6-1-1 in Conley’s last 8 home starts. Cincinnati is 0-7 in the last 7 meetings between these two teams in Miami.
Miami is back in one of those grooves where they are tearing the cover off of the baseball, while the Reds are back in a brutal slump and are waving the white flag on the season. Conley has given up just two runs in 13 innings in his pair of starts since coming back from the DL, while Adleman has won just one of his last nine starts. Pretty good price on Miami here if you ask me, so I’ll back the Marlins to win the series.
