USA TODAY Sports
For the Saturday game, the Orioles will be going with RHP Kevin Gausman. In his 112.0 innings and 7-7 record this year, Gausman has a 5.79 ERA with 104 Ks and 49 BBs.
Baltimore has some interesting bats this year. Jonathan Schoop came into this set with 113 hits, 61 runs, 22 homers and 72 RBI, while Adam Jones had 107 hits, 55 runs, 19 homers and 51 RBI. Jones had one hit Friday; Schoop logged a solo homer.
Over on the Rangers’ side, they’re rolling with RHP Austin Bibens-Dirkx on Saturday. In his 45.2 innings and 3-0 record this year, Bibens-Dirkx has a 4.53 ERA With 26 Ks and 12 BBs.
Texas has some big hitters this year as well. Elvis Andrus brought 114 hits, 59 runs, 13 homers and 54 RBI into this set, while Rougned Odor had 85 hits, 53 runs, 20 homers and 44 RBI. On Friday, Andrus ripped a two-run homer; Odor came up empty.
The Orioles are 1-7 in the last eight during game two of a series, and 6-1 in Gausman’s last seven Saturday starts. Baltimore is also 4-9 in Gausman’s last 13 starts versus the AL West, and 11-29 in Gausman’s last 40 road starts.
Meanwhile, the Rangers are 7-0 in their last seven Saturday games, and 11-2 in their last 13 during game two of a series. Texas is also 0-5 in their last five games versus a starter with a WHIP greater than 1.30 and the under is 4-1 in the Rangers’ last five Saturday games.
After two rough outings (13 earned in 7.0 innings), Gausman has calmed down with one earned in 12.0 innings over his last two starts (one against Texas). As for Bibens-Dirkx, he’s surrendered nine earned over 10.2 innings in two of his last three starts. I like Gausman to keep it going here so I’ll take the Orioles for the win.
