Out at Yankee Stadium on Sunday, the Tampa Bay Rays and the New York Yankees will be finishing up their MLB series.
The Yankees won the first two games of this set 6-5 and 6-1, then on Saturday, New York secured another walk-off win via Brett Gardner 5-4.

For the Sunday finale, the Rays will be bringing out RHP Jacob Faria. In his 57.1 innings and 2.67 ERA this year, Faria has 50 Ks and 17 BBs.
Tampa has some notable hitters on their roster. Chris Dickerson brought 119 hits, 64 runs, 19 homers and 44 RBI into the weekend while Evan Longoria had 109 hits, 54 runs, 16 homers and 62 RBI. Dickerson had one hit on Saturday; Longoria came up empty.
Over on the Yankees’ side, they’re going with LHP Jordan Montgomery on Sunday. In his 108.0 innings and 7-5 record this year, Montgomery has a 3.92 ERA with 99 Ks and 33 BBs.
New York has some big bats as well. Aaron Judge entered the weekend with 108 hits, 81 runs, 33 homers and 74 RBI, while Brett Gardner had 97 hits, 52 runs, 12 homers and 45 RBI. Judge went 0-for-3 on Saturday; Gardner had the walk-off hit and RBI.
The Rays are 4-0 in their last four during game four of a series, and 1-4 in their last five Sunday games. Tampa is also 4-1 in Faria’s last five starts and 4-1 in Faria’s last five road starts.
Meanwhile, the Yankees are 2-5 in their last seven Sunday games, and 1-4 in Montgomery’s last five starts. New York is also 0-4 in Montgomery’s last four starts versus a team with a winning record and the under is 4-1 in the Yankees’ last five during game four of a series.
After a pretty good run of starts, Faria has stumbled just a bit over his last pair with seven earned on 13 hits in 12.1 innings. As for Montgomery, he coughed up six earned on seven hits in 6.0 innings in Minnesota, but was good against the Reds in his last outing (6.2 innings; one earned). This should be a pretty fun game to check out and I’d imagine it will be another close one. I’ll take the Faria and the Rays to eke one out here, though.
