The Royals bounced back from a rare loss to down the Red Sox 5-3 on the road Sunday behind contributions from both the arms and bats. KC starter Jason Hammel improved to 5-8 with all three runs allowed on seven hits over seven innings of work. Kansas City pounded out 12 hits and walked once with Alcides Escobar going 2-3 with three RBI’s and a run while Alex Gordon driving in a pair of runs. Danny Duffy toes the rubber for the Kansas City Royals versus the Baltimore Orioles on Monday night. Duffy comes off of consecutive wins after a 3-1 victory at the Detroit Tigers where he allowed the lone run on six hits and a walk in 6.1 frames.

The Baltimore Orioles are still holding out hope of a Wild Card berth but the winning has to begin now. The Orioles are hoping a hot streak is in the making after a 10-6 victory at the Texas Rangers on Sunday gave the team back to back victories. O’s starter Wade Miley gave up a pair of runs on four hits and a BB through five innings before three relievers allowed four runs on three homers. Baltimore racked up 13 hits and a trio of free passes with Welington Castillo and Jonathan Schoop each going deep, driving in seven and scoring three while Manny Machado and Chris Davis each scored twice with Davis driving in a run. Ubaldo Jimenez opens the series on the mound for the Baltimore Orioles against the visiting Kansas City Royals on Monday. Jimenez comes off of a 5-1 loss at the Tampa Bay Rays with only two runs given up on three hits and two BB while striking out nine over six frames.
