For the Monday finale, the Braves will be bringing out RHP Mike Foltynewicz. In his 110.2 innings and 9-5 record this year, Foltynewicz has a 3.82 ERA with 101 Ks and 39 BBs.
The Braves have a few notable bats this year. Coming out of the week, Ender Inciarte brought 129 hits, 69 runs and 39 RBI, while Nick Markakis had 106 hits, 50 runs and 49 RBI. On Sunday, Inciarte had one hit; Markakis had a pair of knocks.
Over on the Phillies’ side, they’re rolling with RHP Nick Pivetta on Monday. In his 75.1 innings and 3-6 record this year, Pivetta has a 5.73 ERA with 78 Ks and 33 BBs.
The Phillies have a few noteworthy hitters as well. Odubel Herrera brought 104 hits, 44 runs, 10 homers and 38 RBI out of the week while Freddy Galvis had 95 hits, 41 runs, 11 homers and 43 RBI. In Sunday’s game, Galvis posted three hits and an RBI; Herrera had two hits and a run.
The Braves are 1-5 in their last six during game four of a series, and 5-0 in Foltynewicz’s last five road starts. Atlanta is also 12-2 in Foltynewicz’s last 14 starts and 4-1 in Foltynewicz’s last five Monday starts.
Meanwhile, the Phillies are 20-41 in their last 61 during game four of a series, and 18-37 in their last 55 Monday games. Philadelphia is also 1-4 in Pivetta’s last five home starts and 4-10 in Pivetta’s last 14 starts overall.
Over his last pair of starts, Foltynewicz has been pretty solid with five earned on 11 hits over 12.1 innings. As for Pivetta, He’s given up 17 earned over his last three starts, a span of 16.1 innings. I like the way Foltynewicz is pitching this year, and he should be able to put the Braves in line to snag a win here.
