MLB baseball comes to Petco Park when the San Diego Padres host the Minnesota Twins in interleague play on Tuesday.
The Minnesota Twins are in the middle of a three team race in the American League Central and every loss hurts more then it did early in the season. The Twins dropped a 6-5, 12 inning decision at the Oakland Athletics where a 5-0 lead went by the wayside. Minnesota starter Bartolo Colon gave up three runs on eight hits over 6.1 frames with Taylor Rogers allowing two runs for a blown save before Tyler Duffey served up a walk off homer in the 12th to absorb the loss. The Twins posted eight hits and eight walks with Brian Dozier launching his 17th homer while Eduardo Escobar cracked a two run bomb followed by Joe Mauer with a run and RBI. Jose Berrios toes the rubber for the Minnesota Twins in the series opener at the San Diego Padres on Tuesday night. Berrios comes off of a 6-2 defeat at the Los Angeles Dodgers with four runs plated on seven hits and a base on balls over four frames.

The San Diego Padres are not going to the postseason and already have an eye towards 2018. The Padres are simply looking to stay out of the National League West basement and have been able to do that with San Francisco struggling. SD dropped a game in the standings with a 7-1 loss to the visiting Pittsburgh Pirates where neither the arms or bats were able to come up big. San Diego starter Clayton Richard gave up four runs on seven hits and two BB through six innings to fall to 5-12 while Jose Torres allowed another three runs on three solo jacks. The Padres mustered six hits and two free passes with Dusty Coleman supplying the scoring with his second homer of 2017. The San Diego Padres open their series against the Minnesota Twins with a surging Jhoulys Chacin on the bump. Chacin has won four of his last five starts capped off by a 6-3 win versus the New York Mets where he allowed two runs on four hits and three BB in 5.1 frames.
The under is 13-3 in Minnesota last 16 overall and the under is 13-3 in Minnesota last 16 on grass while Minnesota are 22-9 in their last 31 road games. The over is 7-1-1 in San Diego last 9 interleague games and San Diego are 7-2 in their last 9 home games while San Diego are 15-38 in their last 53 Tuesday games.
The Padres are playing well and Minnesota is in a little skid but I look for Berrios to get back on track...
