The Kansas City Royals and Baltimore Orioles take the field in the finale’ of their MLB baseball series Wednesday.
The Kansas City Royals have been one of the hottest teams in the game that has them knocking on the door in the American League Central lead. After a two week hot streak the Royals have dropped three of four after a 7-2 defeat at the Baltimore Orioles where both the arms and bats struggled. KC starter Ian Kennedy fell to 4-7 with four runs allowed on eight hits and a BB over four frames while the pen gave up three more runs. Kansas City managed five hits and a walk with Whit Merrifield and Salvador Perez driving in runs while Melky Cabrera and Alex Gordon scored. The Kansas City Royals conclude their series at the Baltimore Orioles with Jason Vargas on the bump. Vargas comes off of a 4-2 victory at the Boston Red Sox where he gave up a run on five hits and a pair of bases on balls over six innings of work.

The Baltimore Orioles looked dead in the water but have come to life the past few days to remain in the Wild Card hunt. The Orioles have been playing well and that continued with win number four in a row versus the Kansas City Royals on Tuesday night. The O’s put everything together with starter Dylan Bundy allowing an unearned run on three hits and a walk through eight innings to up his record to 10-8. Baltimore racked up 15 hits with Seth Smith going 2-3 with three RBI’s and a pair of runs while Jonathan Schoop and Tim Beckham each scored twice. Jeremy Hellickson makes his first career start for the Baltimore Orioles against the Kansas City Royals on Wednesday. Hellickson was acquired from the Philadelphia Phillies after 1 ½ years with the club where in 2017 he was 6-5 with a 4.73 ERA in 20 starts.
