In the Monday opener, the Yankees secured a 7-3 victory. On Tuesday, the Tigers struck back with a 4-3 win.

For the Wednesday game, the Tigers will be bringing out RHP Jordan Zimmerman. In his 112.1 innings and 6-8 record this year, Zimmerman has a 5.69 ERA with 77 Ks and 34 BBs.
Detroit has some notable bats on their roster. Justin Upton came into Tuesday with 100 hits, 62 runs, 17 homers and 67 RBI, while Nick Castellanos brought 97 hits, 51 runs, 15 homers and 57 RBI. On Tuesday, Upton ripped a homer; Castellanos had a double.
Over on the Yanks’ side, they’re going with RHP Masahiro Tanaka on Wednesday. In his 123.2 innings and 8-9 record this year, Tanaka has a 5.09 ERA with 132 Ks and 27 BBs.
New York has some notable players in the box as well. Aaron Judge came into Tuesday with 109 hits, 83 runs, 34 homers and 75 RBI, while Brett Gardner had 99 hits, 69 runs, 19 homers and 48 RBI. Gardner managed just one hit on Tuesday; Judge went 0-for-4.
The Tigers are 5-2 in their last seven during game three of a series, and 0-6 in their last six Wednesday games. Detroit is also 1-4 in Zimmerman’s last five starts and 2-10 in Zimmerman’s last 12 road starts.
Meanwhile, the Yankees are 15-6 in their last 21 Wednesday games, and 3-8 in their last 11 during game three of a series. New York is also 4-1 in Tanaka’s last five Wednesday starts and 19-7 in Tanaka’s last 26 home starts.
Zimmerman has had a few bright spots lately but for the most part he’s been sketchy. In four of his last six starts, he’s given up at least four earned runs. He’s coming off three earned on six hits over 7.0 innings versus Houston. As for Tanaka, he had a run of 12 earned over three starts but was brilliant in his last outing with 8.0 innings, two hits and one earned beside a career-high 14 Ks. I like New York to keep it going here behind Tanaka so I’ll take the Yankees for the win.
