The Pittsburgh Pirates have struggled over the past few weeks and that has cost the team a chance to move up the standings in the National League Central. The Pirates have lost five of six following Tuesday’s night defeat to the visiting Cincinnati Reds where nothing went favorably. Pitt starter Jameson Taillon was hit hard with eight runs given up on eleven hits and a base on balls through 3.2 innings to fall to 6-5 before the relief corps put out the fire that was burning from a pitcher that was allowed to go too far. The Buccos offense was held to seven hits and two free passes with Josh Bell driving in Starling Marte. Trevor Williams toes the rubber for the Pittsburgh Pirates versus the Cincinnati Reds who he sees for the first time this season. Williams comes in off of a 2-1 loss (ND) at the San Francisco Giants where he allowed a run on five hits and three BB in six fames.
