For the Thursday game, the Phillies will be bringing out RHP Jerad Eickhoff. In his 98.2 innings and 2-7 record this year, Eickhoff has a 4.56 ERA with 90 Ks and 40 BBs.
The Phillies have a few notable bats this year. Coming into Thursday Odubel Herrera had 108 hits, 46 runs, 11 homers and 41 RBI, while Freddy Galvis had 98 hits, 42 runs, 11 homers and 44 RBI. On Wednesday, Galvis and Herrera each went 1-for-4.
Over on the Angels’ side, they’re going with RHP Parker Bridwell on Thursday. In his 54.0 innings and 5-1 record this year, Bridwell has a 2.83 ERA with 13 BBs.
The Angels have some key bats as well. Andrelton Simmons brought 119 hits, 50 runs, 11 homers and 48 RBI into Wednesday, while Yunel Escobar had 93 hits, 41 runs and 29 RBI. On Wednesday, Simmons had two hits, a run and an RBI; Escobar was out of the lineup.
The Phillies are 6-0 n their last six during game three of a series, and 5-13 in Eickhoff’s last 18 starts. Philadelphia is also 7-21 in Eickhoff’s last 28 road starts and 1-5 in Eickhoff’s last six starts with four days rest.
Meanwhile, the Angels are 12-3 in their last 15 during game three of a series, and 2-7 in their last nine Thursday games. LA is also 4-0 in Bridwell’s last four starts and 4-0 in Bridwell’s last four starts in game three of a series.
Over his last two starts, Eickhoff has played pretty well with three earned on eight hits in 11.0 innings. As for Bridwell, he hasn’t given up more than two earned in any of his last four starts. This should be a fun pitching matchup but I like the Angels offense to come out on top here. Give me LA.
