The St. Louis Cardinals go on the road to face the Cincinnati Reds in Friday MLB baseball.

The St. Louis Cardinals are right in the middle of the National League Central race but the team is still below .500 and that won’t win the division. The Cardinals fell another game below the breakeven point in Thursday afternoon’s 2-1 road loss at the Milwaukee Brewers where the offense never got going. Cards starter Michael Wacha allowed a run on five hits and a trio of walks over four frames before Brett Cecil absorbed the loss with a run scoring in two innings of work. St. Louis was limited to six hits and four bases on balls with Greg Garcia driving in Yadier Molina with the only run. Right hander Mike Leake toes the rubber for the St. Louis Cardinals against the Cincinnati Reds on Friday. Leake is looking to rebound from a 7-1 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks where he allowed three runs on four hits including two homers in five frames.

Cincinnati Reds vs. St. Louis Cardinals - 8/4/17 MLB Pick, Odds, and Prediction

The Cincinnati Reds will probably be looking at their roster going forward in anticipation of what it could look like in 2018. The Reds saw their three game winning streak come to an end in a 6-0 road loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates on Thursday night. Cincinnati had been very tough this past week overall but the offense was silent and the work on the mound was was poor in the series finale versus Pittsburgh which was a losing combination. Reds starter Sal Romano was charged with four runs on eight hits over six frames to get the loss with Kevin Shackleford allowing two runs in 1/3 of an inning. Cincinnati was held to four hits and three walks with Joey Votto reaching base three times. The  Cincinnati Reds will  pull Asher Wojciechowski from the bullpen to start against the visiting St. Louis  Cardinals  on Friday.  In 12 appearances  including  four starts, Wojciechowski has gone 1-2 with a 5.36 ERA covering 34 innings of work.

The under is 13-4-4 in St. Louis last 21 overall and the under is 13-4-4 in St. Louis last 21 on grass. Cincinnati are 2-9 in their last 11 home games and Cincinnati are 5-14 in their last 19 overall while Cincinnati are 5-14 in their last 19 games on grass. The over is 6-2-1 in the last 9 meetings.

Let’s just say if I needed a win, neither of these pitchers would be getting the ball…
