The St. Louis Cardinals go on the road to face the Cincinnati Reds in Friday MLB baseball.
The St. Louis Cardinals are right in the middle of the National League Central race but the team is still below .500 and that won’t win the division. The Cardinals fell another game below the breakeven point in Thursday afternoon’s 2-1 road loss at the Milwaukee Brewers where the offense never got going. Cards starter Michael Wacha allowed a run on five hits and a trio of walks over four frames before Brett Cecil absorbed the loss with a run scoring in two innings of work. St. Louis was limited to six hits and four bases on balls with Greg Garcia driving in Yadier Molina with the only run. Right hander Mike Leake toes the rubber for the St. Louis Cardinals against the Cincinnati Reds on Friday. Leake is looking to rebound from a 7-1 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks where he allowed three runs on four hits including two homers in five frames.

Cincinnati was held to four hits and three walks with Joey Votto reaching base three times. The Cincinnati Reds will pull Asher Wojciechowski from the bullpen to start against the visiting St. Louis Cardinals on Friday.
