The San Diego Padres visit Great American Ball Park to take the field with the Cincinnati Reds in an MLB baseball tilt on Monday.
The San Diego Padres are looking to avoid the basement in the National League West which means no slumping. The Padres lost a tough one Sunday as they scored twice in the first and twice in the 9th but couldn’t do any more damage in a 12 inning, 5-4 defeat at the Pittsburgh Pirates. SD starter Clayton Richard allowed four runs on five hits through six frames before Buddy Baumann surrendered a walk off homer in the 12th to absorb the loss. San Diego posted nine hits and five walks with Cory Spangenberg driving in a run and scoring while Manuel Margot smacked a two run single and scored. Jhoulys Chacin toes the rubber for the San Diego Padres for Monday’s matchup with the Cincinnati Reds at Great American Ball Park. Chacin is riding a three game winning streak after downing Minnesota 3-0 with seven scoreless innings pitched.
