The Seattle Mariners visit the Oakland Athletics in an American League West MLB baseball tilt on Tuesday.
The Seattle Mariners have reached a game over .500 but will need more to capture a Wild Card. The Mariners had won back to back contests before getting hammered 9-1 at the Kansas City Royals on Sunday. Nothing went favorably for the M’s and it all began with starter Erasmo Ramirez who was charged with five runs on eight hits including three long balls over five frames before Cody Martin surrendered another four runs in the 8th. Seattle was limited to four hits and a base on balls with Danny Espinosa rapping a run scoring double that plated Leonys Martin. The Seattle Mariners hand the ball to Ariel Miranda for his second start against the Oakland Athletics this year. Miranda is looking to rebound from a 5-1 road loss to the Texas Rangers where he gave up all five runs (four earned) on seven hits including three homers in 5.2 frames.

The Oakland Athletics have an outside shot at finishing 2017 with a winning record but time won’t be on their side much longer. The Athletics won consecutive games following an 11-10 win at the Angels with a six run 9th against a hapless Los Angeles pen getting the job done. A’s starter Sean Manaea was charged with six runs (five earned) through 3.1 innings with Simon Castro and Liam Hendriks allowing three runs in a combined 2.1 frames before four relievers stopped the bleeding. Oakland amassed 18 hits and four walks with Mark Canha, Khris Davis and Chad Pinder going deep, driving in seven and scoring five times while Bruce Maxwell knocked in two. The Oakland Athletics give Tuesday’s start against the visiting Seattle Mariners to Kendall Graveman. Graveman came off the disabled list and struggled last time out in an 11-2 defeat at the San Francisco Giants with seven runs scoring on eight hits in two frames.
The over is 40-12-2 in Seattle last 54 Tuesday games and Seattle are 10-4 in their last 14 road games while Seattle are 7-17 in their last 24 Tuesday games. The over is 13-3 in Oakland last 16 games following a win and the over is 7-2-2 in Oakland last 11 overall while the over is 9-3-2 in Oakland last 14 on grass. Seattle are 13-4 in the last 17 meetings in Oakland.
The Mariners are generally not good on the road but they do well at Oakland so I’ll take a shot with them…
