The San Diego Padres and Cincinnati Reds conclude their MLB baseball series on Wednesday at Great American Ball Park.
The San Diego Padres have had a tough season so far and being in the top heavy National League West hasn’t helped. The Padres had dropped four of five before getting both their arms and bats on the same page in Tuesday’s 7-3 victory at Cincinnati. SD starter Luis Perdomo gave up a pair of runs on seven hits and four walks in six frames to get the win. San Diego racked up eleven hits and walked three times with Austin Hedges going solo while Yangervis Solarte went 3-5 with a homer and three RBI’s followed by Jose Pirela with a four hit, three run effort. San Diego is scheduled to start Travis Wood against the Cincinnati Reds Wednesday who he will see for the first time since 2015. Wood comes off of a 10-6 road loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates where he was charged with four runs over five innings of work.

The Cincinnati Reds are looking to be respectable going forward and that means winning games which has been a struggle. The Reds saw their chance to win consecutive contests go by the wayside in Tuesday night’s defeat where the pitching struggled and the offense never got going. Cinci starter Sal Romano was charged with five runs on nine hits and a pair of free passes before Drew Storen served up a two run homer. Cincinnati totaled nine hits and six bases on balls with Tucker Barnhart clubbing a three run homer that scored Jesse Winker and Jose Peraza. The Cincinnati Reds have tabbed Asher Wojciechowski as Wednesday’s starter for his first career meeting with the San Diego Padres. Wojciechowski defeated the St. Louis Cardinals 3-2 last time out with a run scoring on three hits and a BB over
