The Cincinnati Reds are looking to play respectably over the final half of the season. The Reds have been heading in that direction with wins in three of four following a 10-3 rout of the visiting San Diego Padres. Cinci starter Luis Castillo allowed all three runs on six hits and a trio of BB before four relievers held the Padres off the scoreboard. Cincinnati did their damage on eight hits and seven free passes with Joey Votto and Eugenio Suarez going solo while Zack Cozart homered, drove in two and scored twice followed by Scooter Gennett went 2-4 with a homer and four runs driven in. The Cincinnati Reds are hoping for a rebound from right hander Homer Bailey when he opposes the Milwaukee Brewers on Friday. Bailey comes in off of a 13-4 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals with ten runs allowed over 3.1 innings of work.

The Milwaukee Brewers were the top team in the National League Central two weeks ago but the team has been in a slow decline. The decline continued Thursday night with the Brewers dropping number five in a row in a 7-2 defeat at the hands of the visiting Minnesota Twins. Brew Crew starter Zach Davies was hit hard with all seven runs (six earned) allowed on eleven hits and a pair of bases on balls through 5.2 innings of work. Milwaukee totaled seven hits and a walk with Keon Broxton going deep for the 6th time while Jesus Aguilar drove in Orlando Arcia. Jimmy Nelson will be looking for run support when the Milwaukee Brewers send him to the bump to oppose the Cincinnati Reds on Friday night. Nelson did not receive a decision in a 2-1 loss at Tampa Bay last time out with a run allowed over eight frames.
The under is 11-5-1 in Cincinnati last 17 road games and Cincinnati are 16-35 in their last 51 road games while Cincinnati are 18-37 in their last 55 overall. The under is 20-5-2 in Milwaukee last 27 overall and the under is 16-4-1 in Milwaukee last 21 home games while the under is 20-7-2 in Milwaukee last 29 on grass. The over is 7-1-1 in Nelson’s last 9 starts versus Cincinnati and the over is 7-3 in Bailey’s last 10 starts versus Milwaukee.
Even though Bailey has struggled, this might not be the slam dunk most think the way Cincinnati is swinging the bats so small here…
