The St. Louis Cardinals have been making a serious push in the National League Central. The Cardinals stayed hot Friday night with solid offense overcoming a shaky performance out of the bullpen. Cards starter Adam Wainwright upped his record to 12-5 with a single run scoring on four hits and a trio of bases on balls while Brett Cecil made things interesting with four runs given up through five innings of work. St. Louis posted eight hits and walked eight times with Paul DeJong going 2-5 with three RBI’s while Kolten Wong & Matt Carpenter with both driving in a run and scoring twice. Carlos Martinez shoots for back to back victories when the St. Louis Cardinals host the Atlanta Braves on Saturday. Martinez comes in off of an 11-3 win at the Kansas City Royals with a pair of runs scoring on seven hits including two solo homers over eight frames.
The over is 11-3 in Atlanta last 14 road games and Atlanta are 3-10 in their last 13 overall while Atlanta are 3-10 in their last 13 games on grass. St. Louis are 9-2 in their last 11 home games and the under is 15-5-1 in St. Louis last 21 Saturday games while the over is 6-2 in Martinez’s last 8 starts on grass. I think I’ll go with the surging Cardinals who are enjoying one of their best streaks of the year…
