Oakland Athletics vs. Baltimore Orioles - 8/13/17 MLB Pick, Odds, and Prediction

For the Sunday game, the Orioles will be bringing out RHP Jeremy Hellickson. In his 125.1 innings and 7-6 record this year, Hellickson has a 4.45 ERA with 77 Ks and 32 BBs.

Baltimore has a set of solid batters this year. Johnathan Schoop came into this weekend with 130 hits, 71 runs, 25 homers and 84 RBI while Adam Jones had 121 hits, 64 runs, 22 homers and 58 RBI. On Saturday, Schoop and Jones combined for four hits, three RBI and a run.

The A’s will be rolling out RHP Kendall Graveman on Sunday. In his 54.1 innings and 2-3 record this year, Graveman has a 4.97 ERA with 34 Ks and 16 BBs.

Oakland has some key bats as well. Jed Lowrie entered Saturday with 114 hits, 60 runs, 10 homers and 40 RBI while Ryon Healy had 106 hits, 47 runs, 21 homers and 63 RBI. In Saturday’s game, Lowrie whiffed but Healy lad two hits with a run.

The Orioles are 11-5 in their last 16 overall, and 11-5 in their last 16 games on grass. Baltimore is also 15-29 in their last 42 road games and 10-23 in their last 33 road games versus a right-handed starter.

Meanwhile, the Athletics are 9-5 in their last 14 home games versus a right-handed starter and 3-7 in their last 10 overall. Oakland is also 1-7 in their last eight versus the AL East and 1-6 in their last seven home games.

After giving up six earned in 5.0 innings against Milwaukee, Hellickson has managed three earned over his last 13.0 innings (two starts) with his new team. As for Graveman, he’s been a little sketchy lately with 10 earned in his last two starts, a span of 7.1 innings. I like Hellickson to come out strong here and help the Orioles get a win.
