The Atlanta Braves and the St. Louis Cardinals face off in the series finale of their three game set from Busch Stadium on Sunday.

The Atlanta Braves will look to salvage something from this series after dropping their fifth straight decision overall thanks to a 6-5 defeat in game two on Saturday. Freddie Freeman went 3 for 4 with a double and two RBIs, while Kurt Suzuki opened the scoring with a two run single and Brandon Phillips rounded out Atlanta’s output with a solo homer of his own. Ender Inciarte, Ozzie Albies and Dansby Swanson each added base hits of their own in the losing effort for the Braves. Lucas Sims remained winless, falling to 0-3 this season after giving up five runs, four earned, on ten hits while striking out three over 5.1 innings of work. R.A. Dickey will start the finale and is 7-7 with a 4.10 ERA and 93 strikeouts this year. In his career, Dickey is 3-1 with a 4.38 ERA and 22 strikeouts against St. Louis.

St. Louis Cardinals vs. Atlanta Braves - 8/13/17 MLB Pick, Odds, and Prediction

The St. Louis Cardinals will look to stay hot and complete the sweep after winning their eighth straight game following their victory on Saturday. Six different Cardinals each put up a run for St. Louis in the win, with Paul DeJong and Randal Grichuk putting up solo homers, with Grichuk going 2 for 4 with a double as well. Dexter Fowler also went 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI, while Tommy Pham, Greg Garcia and even starting pitcher Carlos Martinez put a run on the board in the win. Matt Carpenter and Kolten Wong each put up base hits of their own in the winning effort for the Cards. Speaking of Martinez, he evened up his record at 9-9 this season, giving up three runs on seven hits while striking out seven over six innings of work to get the victory. Trevor Rosenthal gave up a two run single in the 9th but finished things off for his 11th save of the campaign. Michael Wacha will start the finale and is 9-4 with a 3.70 ERA and 115 strikeouts this season. In his career, Wacha is 0-1 with a 3.07 ERA and 15 strikeouts against Atlanta.

Atlanta is 0-6 in their last 6 road games and 1-4 in Dickey’s last 5 road starts while the over is 22-5 in their last 27 road games against a team with a winning record. St. Louis is 8-0 in their last 8 games overall and 35-17 in Wacha’s last 52 home starts while the over is 3-1-1 in their last 5 home games. Atlanta is 0-5 in the last 5 meetings between these two teams.

The Cardinals are playing some of the best baseball in the league over the last week or so, just finding ways to win and are right back in the thick of things in the division race. The Braves are just trying to find silver linings where they can, and I don’t think it’ll be here as the Cards cruise to another sweep with their ninth straight win on Sunday.
