The Houston Astros and the Texas Rangers meet in the series finale of their three game AL West division set on Sunday.
The Houston Astros will look to avoid their second straight sweep and sixth straight loss after falling to the Rangers in game two on Saturday by a final score of 8-3. J.D. Davis led the team with a pair of RBIs while going 1 for 2 at the dish with a double. Alex Bregman added an RBI of his own while Marwin Gonzalez went 2 for 4 as the Astros put up just four hits as a team in yet another dismal offensive output during this losing skid. Mike Fiers took the loss, falling to 7-7 this season after giving up six runs on five hits while walking four and striking out a pair over four innings of work. Dallas Keuchel will start game three and is 9-2 with a 2.87 ERA and 76 strikeouts this season. In his career, Keuchel is 6-7 with a 4.04 ERA and 111 strikeouts against Texas.

The Texas Rangers will look to complete the sweep after winning their third straight game on Saturday. Adrian Beltre led the way by going 3 for 4 with a double and three RBIs while Brett Nicholas opened the scoring with a three run homer of his own, his first of the season, going 2 for 4 at the plate. Mike Napoli added a solo homer while Nomar Mazara rounded out the Rangers’ output with an RBI of his own. Elvis Andrus also contributed a pair of base hits in the winning effort for the Rangers. Tyson Ross got the win after giving up all three runs on four hits while walking five and striking out a pair over 5.2 innings of work. Andrew Cashner will start game three and is 7-8 with a 3.36 ERA and 55 strikeouts this season. In his career, Cashner is 2-5 with a 4.89 ERA and 33 strikeouts against Houston.
Houston is 10-1 in Keuchel’s last 11 division starts and 0-7 in their last 7 road games against a team with a losing record while the over is 13-5-1 in their last 19 road games. Texas is 5-1 in Cashner’s last 6 home starts and 2-5 in Cashner’s last 7 division starts while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 games overall. Houston is just 14-37 in the last 51 meetings between these two teams at the Rangers.
The Astros have suffered a major fall from grace, once being considered the best team in the league, to now scuffling on the brink of a second straight sweep. Cashner is by no means an ace, but he’s given up just one run in each of his last two starts, while Keuchel is coming off a rough outing after giving up eight earned runs over just four innings of work, making that a combined 14 earned runs in his last three starts covering twelve innings. The Rangers have outplayed the Astros in the first two games, and with how Keuchel has pitched since coming off of the DL, I have no reason to think that’ll change here, so I like the Rangers and the plus money for the sweep on Sunday.
