The Colorado Rockies host the Atlanta Braves in game one of their four game set from Coors Field on Monday.
The Atlanta Braves come into this one looking to build on a 6-3 win in their series finale against the Cardinals that snapped a five game losing streak. Brandon Phillips went 2 for 5 with a home run and two RBIs, while Nick Markakis, Danny Santana and Ozzie Albies each recorded an RBI respectively in the win. Jace Peterson added a pinch-hit triple, while Ender Inciarte went 3 for 5 at the dish. Freddie Freeman went 2 for 4 while Dansby Swanson added a base hit as well in the winning effort for ATL. R.A. Dickey got the win, improving to 8-7 this season after giving up just one run on seven hits while walking a pair and striking out three over seven innings of work. Arodys Vizcaino threw a perfect 9th inning with a strikeout, notching his 6th save of the season. Julio Teheran will start the opener and is 7-10 with a 5.25 ERA and 101 strikeouts this season. In his career, Teheran is 4-1 with a 2.53 ERA and 39 strikeouts against Colorado.

The Colorado Rockies will look to turn things around after being swept by the Marlins after a 5-3 loss in the series finale on Sunday gave Colorado their fifth loss in their last six games. Carlos Gonzalez went 1 for 4 with a pair of RBIs, while Gerardo Parra went 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI. Pat Valaika went 3 for 4 at the dish and DJ LeMahieu added a pair of base knocks as well while Ryan McMahon and starting pitcher German Marquez each put up a base hit in the loss. Speaking of Marquez, he took the loss, falling to 9-5 this season after giving up all five runs on seven hits while striking out four over just 4.1 innings of work. Chad Bettis will make his season debut after battling testicular cancer for the first time this season. In 2016, Bettis was 14-8 with a 4.79 ERA and 138 strikeouts. In his career, Bettis is 3-1 with a 4.75 ERA and 24 strikeouts against Atlanta.
Atlanta is 6-18 in their last 24 overall and 1-10 in their lat 11 road games while the over is 5-2 in their last 7 against the NL West. Colorado is 1-5 in their last 6 games overall and 8-2 in their last 10 home games against a team with a losing record while the under is 5-2 in their last 7 games against a right-handed starter. Atlanta is just 2-14 in the last 16 meetings between these two teams and 1-10 in the last 11 meetings in Colorado.
Teheran is coming into this one after allowing 13 earned runs in two starts covering 9.2 innings against a far from intimidating Phillies bunch with a decent performance against the Dodgers sandwiched in the middle. Normally I’m not a fan of betting pitchers making their season debut, especially this late in the year, but Bettis pitched very well last season, and Colorado has dominated this matchup, including wins in 14 of the last 16 overall and the last 10 at Coors Field. With the way the ball flies, this could be the kind of game that Colorado uses to turn things around and I think that happens here as Teheran gets roughed up again. Give me the Rockies.
