For the Tuesday game, the Mets will be bringing out RHP Jacob deGrom. In his 151.1 innings and 13-5 record this year, deGrom has a 3.21 ERA with 179 Ks and 46 BBs.
The Mets have some solid hitters this year. Adstrubal Cabrera came into this set with 104 hits, 61 runs, 29 homers and 75 RBI, while Miguel Conforto had 97 hits, 69 runs, 26 homers and 64 RBI. On Monday, Conforto went 0-for-4; Cabrera had one hit.
Over on the Yankees’ side, they’re going with RHP Sonny Gray on Tuesday. In his 109.1 innings and 6-7 record this year, Gray has a 3.38 ERA with 106 Ks and 37 BBs.
The Yankees have some notable bats as well. Aaron Judge came into this series with 115 hits, 87 runs, 35 homers and 78 runs. Didi Gregorius had 113 hits, 51 runs, 18 homers and 56 RBI. Judge ripped a solo homer on Monday; Gregorius whiffed 0-for-3.
The Mets are 2-7 in their last nine Tuesday games, and 9-2 in deGrom’s last 11 starts. The Mets are also 4-1 in deGrom’s last five road starts and 1-4 in deGrom’s last five Tuesday starts.
Meanwhile, the Yankees are 7-3 in their last 10 during game two of a series and 2-7 in their last nine Tuesday games. The Yankees are also
Over his last several starts, deGrom has been on a nice run. In five of his last six outings, he’s given up two earned runs or fewer. In his most recent start in Philly, deGrom went 6.2 innings with four hits and zero earned runs. As for Gray, he’s got two pretty good starts under his belt as a Yankee, going 6.0 and giving up two earned on four hits in each. This should be a pretty good pitching matchup, and given the unpredictability of both offenses the play is probably the under. Aside from that I think the Mets could eke out a low-scoring win.
