The Tampa Bay Rays and Toronto Blue Jays square off in an MLB baseball tilt on Tuesday.
The Tampa Bay Rays have generally been a team that has been tough although the offense has gone silent the last few weeks and the losses have piled up. The Rays continued to fade with Monday’s 2-1 defeat at Toronto which saddled the team with losses in six of seven. TB starter Jake Odorizzi was outstanding in defeat with both runs given up on three hits and three bases on balls over six frames. Tampa Bay was limited to four hits and four free passes with Wilson Ramos accounting for the scoring with his 4th long ball of the season. Right hander Blake Snell toes the rubber for the Tampa Bay Rays when the team visits the Toronto Blue Jays on Tuesday. Snell comes off of a 4-1 win (ND) against the Cleveland Indians with a run scoring on four hits and two BB over 6.1 frames.

The Toronto Blue Jays Wild Card hopes probably depend on what happens the next few weeks. The Blue Jays have been playing well over the past week or so after Monday’s win gave the team wins on four of five. Jays starter Nick Tepesch allowed the lone run on four hits and three bases on balls through six innings of work before a pair of relievers throw scoreless baseball. The Blue Jays managed five hits and four bases on balls with Josh Donaldson clubbing a two run bomb in the first that plated Jose Bautista. The Toronto Blue Jays are hoping Marco Estrada continues his resurgence when he gets Tuesday’s start versus the Tampa Bay Rays. Estrada comes off of a 4-0 victory versus the New York Yankees where he allowed five hits and walked three over seven frames.
Tampa Bay are 24-53 in their last 77 road games versus a team with a winning home record and Tampa Bay are 1-4 in their last 5 versus a team with a losing record. Toronto are 7-3 in their last 10 versus a team with a winning record and Toronto are 2-5 in their last 7 overall. Tampa Bay are 2-5 in the last 7 meetings.
Estrada has been awful in this match up but has thrown the ball well as of late so I’ll back the Jays who have been doing well…
