The Mariners will be rolling with LHP Ariel Miranda on Wednesday. In his 146.0 innings and 8-6 record this year, Miranda has a 4.62 ERA with 123 Ks and 53 BBs.
Seattle has some interesting hitters this year. Robinson Cano led the way coming into Tuesday with 130 hits, 64 runs, 19 homers and 78 RBI while Nelson Cruz had 129 hits, 70 runs, 31 homers and 101 RBI. Cano and Cruz combined to go 0-for-7 on Tuesday.
Over on the Orioles’ side, they’re going with RHP Ubaldo Jimenez on Wednesday. In his 126.0 innings and 5-9 record this year, Jimenez has a 6.57 ERA with 117 Ks and 54 BBs.
The Orioles have some solid bats as well. Johnathan Schoop brought 151 hits, 79 runs, 28 homers and 96 RBI into Tuesday, while Adam Jones had 141 hits, 74 runs, 25 homers and 66 RBI. Jones put up two hits on Tuesday; Schoop had a solo homer.
The Mariners are 13-5 in their last 18 Wednesday games and 5-1 in Miranda’s last six road starts. Seattle is also 6-1 in Miranda’s last seven road starts versus a team with a winning record and 12-5 in Miranda’s last 17 starts versus a team with a winning record.
Meanwhile, the Orioles are 6-1 in their last seven games versus a left-handed starter and 10-3 in their last 13 games versus a left-handed starter. Baltimore is also 30-10 in Jimenez’s last 40 home starts and 2-6 in Jimenez’s last eight starts.
After a run of 13 earned over three starts, Miranda came back with a nice start against the Yankees his last time out, going 4.2 innings with two hits and zero earned. As for Jimenez, he’s been pretty bad over his last two starts, giving up 11 earned over 9.1 innings. I like Miranda to come out strong here, so I’ll take the Mariners for the win.
