The Texas Rangers and Houston Astros butt heads in Thursday MLB baseball action.
The Texas Rangers have hit a bit of a skid the past few days and need to string together a few wins to get back in the Wild Card race. The Rangers put an end to a three game skid with a convincing 12-2 victory at Houston on Tuesday. Both the pitching and hitting came up big with Texas starter Martin Perez improving to 10-10 with both runs allowed on eight hits and a pair of BB over seven frames. The Rangers racked up 14 hits and walked four times with Joey Gallo cracking a two run bomb followed by Shin-Soo Choo with three hits, four RBI’s and three runs while Elvis Andrus went 4-5 with an RBI and three runs. The Texas Rangers send Andrew Cashner to the bump for Wednesday’s start at the Houston Astros. Cashner comes in off of a 7-5 road victory versus the Los Angeles Angels with four runs given up on seven hits and a walk over six innings of work.

The Houston Astros are not racking up the wins lately although the team’s lead in the American League West is secure. The Astros took one on the chin Tuesday with neither the work on the mound and at the plate coming through. Stros starter Mike Fiers was charged with eight runs on eight hits and a trio of bases on balls through four innings pitched to drop to 8-9 while Francis Mates gave up three unearned runs. Houston posted nine hits and walked twice with Jose Altuve driving in a run while Alex Bregman recorded three hits and drove in a run. Left hander Dallas Keuchel toes the rubber for the Houston Astros versus the Texas Rangers for the third time in 2017 on Wednesday. Keuchel did not get a decision in a 5-4 loss to the Washington Nationals last time out with three runs (two earned) allowed in seven frames.
The over is 43-20-1 in Texas last 64 Wednesday games and the under is 16-5 in Cashner’s last 21 starts overall while the under is 8-3 in Cashner’s last 11 road starts. The over is 7-0-1 in Houston last 8 on astroturf and Houston are 30-11 in their last 41 Wednesday games while Houston are 9-23 in their last 32 games on astroturf. Texas are 77-36 in the last 113 meetings.
I’m not betting this and my reasoning is Houston isn’t as dominant and the Rangers aren’t tearing it up so I’ll look elsewhere…
