The Philadelphia Phillies battle the Atlanta Braves in Game two of a Wednesday doubleheader in MLB action.
The Atlanta Braves have been struggling and are hoping to right the ship and play winning baseball going forward. The Braves have dropped three in a row heading in to Wednesday’s doubleheader thanks to a 6-1 loss at Philadelphia on Monday. Bravos starter Lucas Sims fell to 2-4 with four runs scoring on eight hits through 6.1 frames before Jim Johnson gave up a pair of runs in 1/3 of an inning. Atlanta mustered seven hits with Brandon Phillips driving in Dansby Swanson who had doubled. The Atlanta Braves have named right hander Julio Teheran as Wednesday’s starter at the Philadelphia Phillies. Teheran is shooting for back to back wins after downing the Colorado Rockies 5-2 with both runs plated on five hits over 7.1 innings of work.

The Philadelphia Phillies seem to be going through a little hot streak but the question is when will the good times end. The Phillies have won three of four after Monday’s victory which featured great work on the mound and plenty of late offense. Phils starter Aaron Nola rebounded from a couple of poor outings to allow the only run on five hits over seven innings to improve to 10-9. Philadelphia totaled ten hits and walked three times with Cameron Rupp going deep and driving in two while Nola helped himself with a pair of RBI’s followed by two runs and an RBI from Rhys Hoskins. The Philadelphia Phillies give Wednesday’s starting assignment in game two of a DH versus the visiting Atlanta Braves to Mark Leiter. Leiter comes off of a 8-0 victory against the Miami Marlins where he allowed a lone hit and two walks over seven scoreless frames.
Atlanta are 1-7 in their last 8 Wednesday games and Atlanta are 3-10 in their last 13 road games while the over is 19-7-1 in Atlanta last 27 Wednesday games. Philadelphia are 11-2 in their last 13 during game 3 of a series and Philadelphia are 22-55 in their last 77 games versus a right hander while the over is 6-1-1in Philadelphia last 8 games versus a right hander. Atlanta are 2-12 in the last 14 meetings.
It's difficult to predict the second game of a DH but I’ll back the Phillies with Leiter who seems to have potential versus Teheran who has had some trouble versus this Philadelphia lineup…
