The Washington Nationals clash with the visiting Miami Marlins in Wednesday MLB baseball.
The Miami Marlins are looking to make a run at a Wild Card but have some ground to make up. The Marlins have more ground to make with back to back defeats following an 8-3 loss at Washington on Tuesday night. Nothing went Miami’s way and it all began with starter Vance Worley who was charged with five runs on nine hits and three walks to absorb the loss while Junichi Tazawa allowed three runs in an inning. The Marlins logged eight hits and walked four times with Giancarlo Stanton cracking a two run homer while Dee Gordon went 2-4 with a run. The Miami Marlins are sending Adam Conley to the hill Wednesday to oppose the Washington Nationals for the second time this year. Conley comes off of an 8-6 win versus the San Diego Padres where he was charged with five runs on fix hits in 5.1 frames.

The Washington Nationals are looking to wrap up the National League East as soon as possible so every win is a big step. The Nationals posted their third consecutive victory with Monday’s win where both the arms and bats contributed. Nats starter Edwin Jackson picked up the win with all three runs (two earned) scoring on six hits and four free passes through six innings of work. Washington pounded out 12 hits and walked six times with Anthony Rendon going 2-3 with four runs knocked in while Daniel Murphy went 2-3 with a run and two RBI’s followed by Ryan Zimmerman with an RBI and run. Stephen Strasburg gets the start for the Washington Nationals in the final game of the series with the Miami Marlins. Strasburg defeated the Houston Astros 5-4 on the road last time out with three hits and a walk with seven strikeouts over six scoreless frames.
The over is 12-3-1 in Conley’s last 16 starts on grass and Miami are 8-2 in Conley’s last 10 Wednesday starts while the over is 15-4-2 in Conley’s last 21 starts overall. Washington are 3-7 in their last 10 Wednesday games and the under is 9-4 in Washington last 13 Wednesday games while Washington are 13-6 in their last 19 games on grass.
The Nationals can all but end the Marlins postseason hopes with another win and I believe they get the job done…
