MLB baseball comes to Target Field Friday when the Kansas City Royals visit the Minnesota Twins.

The Kansas City Royals have been struggling for over a week and that has left the team eleven games behind Cleveland in the loss column. The Royals found no relief in a 5-3 defeat at the hands of the visiting Tampa Bay Rays on Wednesday night where neither the arms or bats came through. KC starter Jason Vargas fell to 14-9 with all five runs given up on seven hits including three long balls over six innings of work. Kansas City was limited to five hits and three bases on balls with Whit Merrifield clubbing a three run bomb in the third that scored Cheslor Cuthbert and Alcides Escobar. The Kansas City Royals give Friday’s starting assignment versus the Minnesota Twins to Jason Hammel. Hammel comes in off of a 4-0 road defeat to the Cleveland Indians with all four runs given up on six hits including three long balls in 6.2 frames.

Minnesota Twins vs. Kansas City Royals - 9/1/17 MLB Pick, Odds, and Prediction

The Minnesota Twins have been playing well and are the only team that has a chance of catching the Indians in the American League Central. The Twins continued to play well with a two run 9th to edge the visiting Chicago White Sox 5-4 on Thursday afternoon. Twins starter Bartolo Colon allowed three runs on ten hits while whiffing eight through six innings before Matt Belisle served up a homer in the 9th to fall behind 4-3 although he got the win when the bats scored two in the bottom half of the inning. Minnesota totaled nine hits and walked five times with Max Kepler drivin a pair while Jorge Polanco knocked in a run and scored followed by a two run effort from Brian Dozier. Right hander Dillon Gee gets the call to the mound Friday with the Kansas City Royals visiting the Minnesota Twins. Gee dropped a 10-9 decision at the Toronto Blue Jays last time out with four runs plated on seven hits over four  innings  pitched.

Kansas City are 3-8 in Hammel’s last 11 road starts and the under is 7-3 in Hammel’s last 10 on grass while the under is 7-3 in Hammel’s last 10 starts overall. The over is 6-2-1 in Minnesota last 9 Friday games and Minnesota are 8-3 in their last 11 games on grass. The over is 18-7-3 in the last 28 meetings and Kansas City are 4-9 in the last 13 meetings.

I don’t like the matchup on the mound but when these teams meet somebody is hitting the ball so I’m looking at the over…
