The Atlanta Braves shoot for a road win against the Chicago Cubs in Saturday MLB baseball.
The Atlanta Braves have been relegated to the role of spoiler and will have plenty of opportunities going forward. The Braves just couldn’t spoil the Cubs on Friday afternoon in a 2-0 defeat where the offense couldn’t generate anything. Bravos starter Mike Foltynewicz was outstanding with both runs scoring on five hits and three bases on balls over 6.1 innings to drop to 10-11. The Atlanta attack consisted of four hits and a walk with Rio Ruiz going 2-3 with a single and double while Ender Inciarte and Dansby Swanson recorded base hits. Rookie Lucas Sims toes the rubber versus the Chicago Cubs who he faces for the first time on Saturday. Sims suffered a 6-1 loss at the Philadelphia Phillies where he was charged with four runs on eight hits and a walk through 6.1 innings of work.

The Chicago Cubs have been playing well as they try to distance themselves from the rest of the National League Central. The Cubs continued to win with Friday afternoon’s victory giving the team five consecutive wins. The offense didn’t do much but didn’t need to with the work on the mound controlling the visiting Atlanta bats. Cubbies starter John Lackey improved to 11-10 with three hits allowed through seven innings of work. The Chicago offense did their damage on five hits and six bases on balls with Kyle Schwarber and Ian Happ driving in runs while Anthony Rizzo and Javier Baez scored. Veteran left hander Jon Lester has been named the starter for the Chicago Cubs Saturday tilt with the Atlanta Braves. Lester comes off of a 13-10 loss to the Cincinnati Reds where he gave up nine runs (seven earned) on seven hits over 1.2 frames.
The over is 18-7 in Atlanta last 25 road games and Atlanta are 6-14 in their last 20 road games while Atlanta are 12-25 in their last 37 overall. The under is 11-3 in Chicago last 14 Saturday games and the over is 9-4 in Chicago last 13 home games while Chicago are 21-7 in Lester’s last 28 home starts. ATL are 3-13 in the last 16 meetings and the over is 8-2-1 in the last 11 meetings in Chicago.
I think the Cubs are overpriced but I also think they have the advantage. I don’t think there is value here as I’m not thrilled laying the RL to make this a reasonable game to bet…
