In the Saturday game, the Nats will be bringing out RHP Max Scherzer. In his 167.1 innings and 13-5 record this year, Scherzer has a 2.21 ERA with 230 Ks.
Washington has some notable bats this year. Daniel Murphy came into Friday with 145 hits, 81 runs, 20 homers and 84 RBI while Ryan Zimmerman had 132 hits, 77 runs, 29 homers and 88 RBI. Murphy put up a hit on Friday; Zimmerman went 1-for-3.
Over on the Milwaukee side, they’re going with RHP Brandon Woodruff on Saturday. In his 16.2 innings and 1-1 record this year, Woodruff has a 1.62 ERA with 12 Ks and eight BBs.
The Brewers have some key hitters as well. Travis Shaw had 124 hits, 68 runs, 27 homers and 83 RBI coming into Friday while Domingo Santana had 121 hits, 71 runs, 22 homers and 66 RBI. Shaw came up empty Friday; Santana had one hit.
The Nationals are 8-4 in their last 12 during game three of a series and 4-2 in their last six versus a team with a wining record. Washington is also 10-3 in their last 13 versus the NL Central, and 4-2 in their last six games versus a right-handed starter.
Meanwhile, the Brewers are 4-0 in their last four Saturday games and the under is 4-1 in the Brewers’ last five Saturday games. The under is 12-2 in the Brewers’ last 14 during game three of a series, and Milwaukee is 7-1 in their last eight home games.
Over each of his last three starts, Scherzer has gone 7.0 innings and just returned on Monday from a short stop on the DL. As for Woodruff, he hasn’t appeared in any real game action in over a week thanks to the nasty weather in the southern US. All things considered, I like Scherzer to come out strong here like he has all year and bag a win. Give me the Nats.
