The Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres meet Saturday game two of a MLB doubleheader at Petco Park.
The Los Angeles Dodgers could use a win after losing five of their last six games. The Dodgers have allowed 14 runs in their last three games and five or more runs in six of their last 12 games. The Los Angeles Dodgers have lost six of their last eight games when allowing at least three runs. Offensively, Corey Seager leads the Dodgers with 142 hits and 65 RBI while Chris Taylor and Justin Turner have combined for 254 hits and 123 RBI. Yu Darvish gets the ball, and he is 8-10 with a 3.88 ERA and 177 strikeouts this season. Darvish is 1-0 with a 3.21 ERA and 14 strikeouts in his career against the Padres.

The San Diego Padres could also use a win after losing six of their last nine games. The Padres have scored 11 runs in their last three games and four or more runs in five of their last 10 games. The San Diego Padres have won eight of their last nine games when scoring at least three runs. Wil Myers leads the Padres with 110 hits and 60 RBI while Manuel Margot and Cory Spangenberg have combined for 207 hits and 79 RBI. Jhoulys Chacin gets the ball, and he is 11-10 with a 4.03 ERA and 124 strikeouts this season. Chacin is 10-8 with a 4.11 ERA and 101 strikeouts in his career against the Dodgers.
The Dodgers are 5-0 in their last 5 second games of a double-header, 35-17 in their last 52 road games and 0-4 in their last 4 during game 3 of a series. The Padres are 4-1 in their last 5 during game 3 of a series, 4-1 in their last 5 second games of a double-header and 1-4 in their last 5 games vs. a right-handed starter. The Dodgers are 5-1 in the last 6 meetings in San Diego, 53-24 in the last 77 meetings and the over is 6-2-1 in the last 9 meetings.
I always have a hard time picking game two of a doubleheader when not knowing what's going to happen in the first game. However, the Dodgers are still head and shoulders the best team in baseball, and Darvish has allowed no more than three earned runs since joining the Dodgers. Betting against the Dodgers in this spot just doesn't feel like a good idea.
