MLB baseball comes to Citi Field Tuesday night with the New York Mets hosting the Philadelphia Phillies.
The Philadelphia Phillies have been playing well after taking three of four over the weekend on the road versus the Miami Marlins. The Phillies opened their series at the Mets with an 11-7 defeat where the pitching gave up ten runs by the 4th inning. Phils starter Mark Leiter was hit hard with nine runs (eight earned) given up on nine hits including a pair of long balls over 3.1 frames to fall to 2-5. The Phils posted ten hits and five free passes with Hyun Soo Kim knocking in two and scoring while Freddy Galvis and Andre Blanco both drove in a run and scored. The Philadelphia Phillies have scheduled Ben Lively for Tuesday’s start versus the New York Mets. Lively comes off of a 3-2 win (ND) at the Miami Marlins with both runs given up on six hits and a walk over six innings of work.

The New York Mets seem to be crawling to the finish line with the losses continuing to mount. The Mets had dropped six of seven before the offense came to life in Monday’s score fest. The Mets jumped out to a 10-0 lead and appeared to be heading towards an easy victory before the work on the mound eventually crumbled and made things uncomfortable. Mets starter Rafael Montero improved to 4-9 with four runs given up on five hits and five walks before Hansel Robles allowed two more runs. New York pounded out 12 hits and walked four times with Jose Reyes and Asdrubel Cabrera each going deep and driving in two runs while Brandon Nimmo and Gavin Cecchini both knocked in two runs and scored. The New york Mets send Jacob deGrom to the bump for Tuesday night’s matchup versus the visiting Philadelphia Phillies. DeGrom dropped a 7-2 decision at the Cincinnati Reds last time out with four runs (three earned) plated over six innings.
Philadelphia are 7-20 in their last 27 Tuesday games and Philadelphia are 25-56 in their last 81 road games while Philadelphia are 2-7 in Lively’s last 9 starts. New York are 2-10 in their last 12 Tuesday games and New York are 3-12 in their last 15 home games while the over is 19-5-4 in New York last 28 Tuesday games.
The Mets seem to come to life when facing the Phillies with DeGrom on the mound so I’m not going to buck the trend…
