The Atlanta Braves welcome the Miami Marlins to SunTrust Field in a Thursday MLB matchup.
The Miami Marlins were red hot a few weeks ago and looking like a legitimate Wild Card contender but the team seems to have run out of gas. The Marlins slide continued in an 8-1 loss to visiting Washington where both the arms and bats failed to produce. Miami starter Dillon Peters allowed three runs on six hits and a trio of BB over five frames to absorb the loss while Vance Worley gave up another three runs on two hits and a pair of walks in an inning. The Fish offense consisted of seven hits and three walks with Miguel Rojas driving in JT Realmuto in the 9th. The Miami Marlins give Thursday’s start to Dan Straily who sees the Atlanta Braves for the 4th time in 2017. Straily comes off of a 10-9 versus the visiting Philadelphia Phillies where he was charged with four runs on nine hits and two BB in five frames.

The Atlanta Braves have been limping to the finishing line with the season ending soon. The Braves had dropped eight of eleven before winning the second game of their doubleheader versus the Texas Rangers by a 5-4 count on Wednesday night. Bravos starter Julio Teheran was charged with three runs on five hits and five bases on balls through five innings of work with AJ Minter giving up a run. The Atlanta offense did their damage on seven hits and three free passes with Freddie Freeman doubling in two while Ender Inciarte and Dansby Swanson each drove in a run and scored. Sean Newcomb toes the rubber for the Atlanta Braves against the visiting Miami Marlins on Thursday. Newcomb absorbed a 6-2 loss at the Chicago Cubs last time out with three (two earned) runs scoring on eight hits and three BB over five frames.
Miami are 1-8 in their last 9 overall and Miami are 1-8 in their last 9 games on grass while Miami are 3-10 in their last 13 Thursday games. The under is 26-12-3 in Atlanta last 41 home games and Atlanta are 2-9 in Newcomb’s last 11 starts while Atlanta are 2-9 in Newcomb’s last 11 starts on grass.
Both teams have been miserable and are a risky bet as the losses have been piling up. I would look elsewhere personally…
