MLB baseball comes to Citi Field on Friday with the New York Mets hosting the Cincinnati Reds.
The Cincinnati Red have been all over the map this season and need to develop more consistency. The Reds had won three straight before things came to a screeching halt in a 7-2 defeat at the New York Mets where both the arms and bats struggled. Cinci starter Tyler Mahle fell to 0-1 with three runs scoring on six hits and four free passes over four frames before Tim Adleman and Alejandro Chacin allowed two runs apiece on a combined three long balls. Cincinnati mustered six hits and walked once with Phillip Ervin driving in a run and scoring while Adam Duvall cracked a sacrifice fly. The Cincinnati Reds have named Sal Romano as the game two starter versus the New York Mets on Friday night. Romano comes in off of a 3-1 defeat at the Pittsburgh Pirates with two runs allowed (one earned) on four hits and four BB over 5.2 frames.

The New York Mets have reached the portion of the season where the team is looking forward to a break from another injury riddled year. Any kind of winning streak is a good thing for the Mets who have won three of four following Thursday night’s victory versus Cincinnati in their series opener. New York starter Matt Harvey upped his record to 5-4 with both runs plated on five hits and a walk allowed through five innings of work. The Mets did their damage on eleven hits and six bases on balls with Juan Lagares clubbing a solo bomb while Brandon Nimmo drilled a pair of long balls and knocked in three followed by a two RBI night from Jose Reyes. Right hander Seth Lugo draws Friday’s starting assignment against the visiting Cincinnati Reds. Lugo struggled last time out in a 4-1 loss at the Houston Astros with all four runs given up on eight hits and a pair of bases on balls over five innings of work.
Cincinnati are 18-38 in their last 56 road games. New York are 8-2 in their last 10 Friday games and New York are 5-13 in their last 18 home games while New York are 6-2 in Lugo’s last 8 home starts. Cincinnati are 6-20 in the last 26 meetings and the over is 9-4-1 in the last 14 meetings.
I am seeing Amir Garrett is getting the start for Cincinnati and I’ll take a look at the over with both hurlers having some problems…
