The Milwaukee Brewers lock horns with the Chicago Cubs in a NL Central MLB matchup on Saturday.
The Milwaukee Brewers have a short window of time to get themselves in to Wild Card contention which means rebounding from a bad week. The Brewers took a positive step with a 2-0 victory at Wrigley Field that put an end to a three game skid. The Brew Crew didn’t do much at the plate but didn’t have to with starter Jimmy Nelson at the top of his game with four hits and a pair of walks allowed while whiffing seven over five frames. Ryan Braun carried the offense with his first inning two run homer scoring Eric Thames. The Milwaukee Brewers send Chase Anderson to the bump to face the Chicago Cubs on Saturday. Anderson comes off of a 5-4 road loss to the Cincinnati Reds where he was charged with four runs (three earned) on seven hits and three BB over 5.1 frames.

The Chicago Cubs have not been looking like the defending World Series champions but the team has been slowly building a lead in the NL Central. The Cubs had won back to back contests and could have really hurt the Brewers postseason drive with another win but it was not to be with the offense stalling. A strong performance on the mound from Cubbies starter John Lackey went for naught as two runs allowed on four hits and a pair of bases on balls through seven innings ended up as nothing but a loss. Chicago was limited to five hits and a trio of free passes with Kris Bryant and Jason Heyward logging singles and walking. Mike Montgomery draws the starting assignment from the Chicago Cubs on Saturday with the Milwaukee Brewers in town. Montgomery comes off of a 5-1 defeat to the Atlanta Braves where he was charged with three runs over five frames.
The under is 23-5-1 in Milwaukee last 29 road games and the under is 36-12-3 in Milwaukee last 51 overall while the under is 36-14-3 in Milwaukee last 53 on grass. Chicago are 9-1 in their last 10 home games and Chicago are 7-1 in their last 8 Saturday games while the under is 11-4 in Chicago last 15 Saturday games. The over is 9-1-1 in the last 11 meetings in Chicago and the over is 8-3 in the last 11 meetings.
I think the Brewers have a shot at winning here so I wouldn’t pay the juice on Chicago and would rather walk away or back the road dog…
